2000: BC - Detailed Friday Update, 10/20/00 (Part 2)

JACK'S LOVELY APT/CONDO

Jack and Bianca continue to hash out Erica's smothering mothering. Bianca says the ONLY reason Erica is focusing so much attention on her is because she (Erica) is between boyfriends. Jack basically says the same thing over and over and over and over (Erica loves her, best interests, yadda, yadda, yadda [Bianca was right about that]). She insists she's fine, but Jack begs to differ. Bianca is PO'd about her privacy being invaded and Jack wholeheartedly sympathizes over that point. He then points out that she has only been out of treatment for a year -- does she knows how scared Erica was while she was being treated? Bianca says Erica wasn't scared, she was DISAPPOINTED and ASHAMED! Jack can't believe he's hearing this. He explodes that Erica was TERRIFIED that the daughter that she dearly loved was HURTING herself -- and she was POWERLESS to help her! She insists that Erica was disappointed because Bianca wasn't perfect. Jack tells her that she's forgetting that he and Erica both think she IS perfect just the way she is. Bianca sulks. The phone rings -- it's Erica. (see PV INN LOUNGE below)

After the phone call, some chitchat ensues about Bianca's living there and the state of his refrigerator. She assures him that Leo is NOT moving in with him. He tries to steer the conversation back to Erica and her utter devotion and WORSHIP of Bianca. Bianca doesn't want to talk about anymore for a while. She wants to crash on his couch. He whips out a throw-blanket and tells her she should nap and she'll feel a lot better about things when she wakes up. He says he will always love her.

Later, as Bianca sleeps, she dreams about Erica telling her: "I have tried every way I know how. In my entire life I have never tried harder at anything. But I simply CANNOT love you (echoing)." Bianca bolts up, crying: "Mommy! Mommy!" She looks around wildly and realizes where she is.

PV INN LOUNGE

On the phone with Jack, Erica asks if he's seen Bianca. He reassures her that Bianca is there and is fine, just a little upset. When Erica asks to speak to her, Jack gives Bianca the choice to take the call. After mulling it over, she gives an oh-all-RIGHT look, stalks over and snaps "Yeah?" Erica apologizes for what she did and begs her to come home. Bianca declines. Erica continues to plead and promises not to crowd her or do ANYTHING to upset her [uh huh]. Bianca says she needs some time AWAY from HER to think things over. Erica is crushed, but finally assents, asking if she will call her later. Bianca says she doesn't know and says a curt goodbye. Erica walks slowly out of the lounge.

Greenlee walks up to Woody, who is drinking heartily and asks him to cut Leo some slack. Woody is dead-set against it. Greenlee continues to wheedle him, noting how pitiful and woebegone Leo looks in a jail cell. Woody says jail is not SUPPOSED to be fun. Let him ROT! She whines and pleads and begs him to do it for HER because she LOVES Leo. He says this is starting to sound an awful lot like that Ryan Lavery fiasco, and look how THAT turned out! Greenlee: "I made a mistake with Ryan, ok? I can't explain why my feelings for Ryan weren't real and my feelings for Leo are. I just know that when I walked into that cell today and I saw Leo there, I suddenly realized that I had feelings for him that I've never felt for anyone. Except maybe you, Grandfather." He tells her that trying to butter him up won't work. She says Leo REALLY cares about her and she couldn't bear to see him punished. She stares at Woody with her big doe eyes and he melts. He says he'll TALK to Leo. She says that once he sees how sincere Leo is [uh oh], he'll drop the charges. Woody tells her not to bet her inheritance on it and leaves.

DAVID'S HOTEL ROOM

David, in a blue bathrobe, hears a knock at his door -- why it's Erica! He seems pleased. She wants to talk -- her whole WORLD is falling apart. She knows she shouldn't be there, but she couldn't think of anywhere else to go. She begs him to hold her.

After the commercial, she breaks the embrace and apologizes, saying she has no right to burden him with her problems. He chides her and says he's ALWAYS willing to help! She says she can't seem to do anything right when it comes to Bianca and she feels like such a FAILURE! He tells her that EVERY parent feels like that to some degree while trying to raise a teenager [AMEN to THAT!] and that every teenager lives in a crazy black and white world between exultation and total confusion. She berates herself for being a horrible mother and he tells her to just hang in there -- she's doing FINE. Everything will work out and Bianca will come home. Erica starts to cry and says it's not just that. Erica: "Why is it that everyone I love LEAVES me?" He holds her close and pets her hair.

Their embrace turns passionate, and Natalie Cole [I think] sings "Hush Now, Don't Explain". Erica's clothes are loosened and David carries her to his bed where they commence to make love while the ceiling cam hovers lovingly over them.

CHANDLER ENTERPRISES

In response to Tad's wiseass "What's happened to you?", Ryan says he felt he needed to get his priorities straight. This is his big shot. He wants to put everything he has into it and not look back in 10 years and feel that he didn't give 100%. Tad says he's in. Without actually discussing a ANYTHING, Ryan says he has a meeting at the investment house this afternoon. They'll get the details straight and fax them over. Tad ushers him out. When he opens the door, Gillian and Jake are standing there. Every one alternately stares at each other and away from each other.

Stilted pleasantries follow. Ryan briefly [mercifully for us] explains about the IPO and invites them to the big bash to celebrate [OH BARF!] Jakes gives a noncommittal "We'll try." Ryan leaves and the dumbfoundingly dull duo enter. Jake asks for the keys to the corporate jet. Tad says sure. Jake jokes about it being so easy that he might as well request a house in the Hamptons, too. While the brothers bond, Gillian slips out of the room. Naturally, Ryan is still there, just outside the door. He's on his cell phone telling someone not to do anything until he gets there. As he starts to walk away, Gillian tells him to wait.

PINE VALLEY JAIL

Leo is back in his cell [what no one bailed him out?]. He is sincerely apologizing to Woody. Woody is still incensed over the theft and tells him to stop the snow job. They both know why he did it -- greed, pure and simple! Leo agrees it was really, really wrong. Woody rips him a new one: "It's amazing what the prospect of prison will do to a man's conscience, isn't it? You may be able to hypnotize Greenlee, but everyone else in our family sees you for what you are, Du Pres -- an unscrupulous gold digger who's never earned an honest dime in his life and doesn't plan to start now! Worse than that -- you bring out all my granddaughter's WORST character traits and tendencies!" Leo glibly tells him he might be overlooking some of his best qualities. Woody taunts him with how far his glib attitude will go at Statesville. Leo apologizes for his flippant remarks. Woody tells him to can it, it's who he IS. Woody is willing to cut him a deal. He'll drop the charges and even let Leo keep the $1M -- all he has to do is fly back to Europe and promise never to see Greenlee again. Leo looks stunned and gapes like a guppy.

On the next All My Children:

Jack on the phone to Erica: "I think you should get over here, and I mean RIGHT NOW!"

Greenlee to a still-jailed Leo: "You want to move in with me one minute and then sell me out the next?"

David, reclining on his bed [and looking quite tasty, his pose falling just shy of a buffalo shot] says to Dixie, who is standing across the room: "What can I do for you?" Dixie grins and blushes.

Tad glowers at Gillian as she stares [what else?] at Ryan so hard that my eyes almost bleed in unison with hers. He says: "Your husband's in there waiting for you."

Irreverently submitted,

Robin "thinking of interesting ways to get that robe off of David" Coutellier
